■Design
The most likely origin of the CHESTER COAT is that it was first worn by the Earl of Chesterfield in the 18th century, and it was especially popular as a men's coat in Victorian England. While keeping the sharp and formal design, ATON has evolved it into a more avant-garde design to maximize its compatibility with the AIR DOUBLE MELTON material. The extremely narrow collar creates an even more modern impression.
■Material
This material is woven at a weaver's in Hashima City, Gifu Prefecture. Two layers of 2-way stretch fabric that stretches vertically and horizontally are layered and woven to create an air layer, then specially processed with Melton. This is an original ATON material that combines the warmth of down due to the air layer, overwhelming lightness compared to regular Melton fabric, a stretchy feel like jersey material, and the voluminous firmness unique to Melton fabric.
The surface material of the AIR DOUBLE MELTON used in last season's AW has been updated from a wool and nylon blend to a higher quality material. The surface fabric has been changed to a more dense look.
