Nick Waplington
British photographer based in London and the US.
He won the European Photo Award in 1990 and the ICP Infinity Award in 1993.
In 2001 he participated in the Venice Biennale as a representative British artist.
"Alexander McQueen Working Process" is a photo book documenting the backstage at Alexander McQueen's Fall/Winter 2009 collection.
Alexander McQueen died suddenly the following year at the age of 40.
For the past three decades, Nick Waplington has been creating work characterized by an eclecticism that employs both traditional and new media to push the boundaries of contemporary art.
He works with a wide range of media and materials, including painting, sculpture, video, computer-generated imagery, and found natural and man-made objects.
His work has been exhibited in galleries and museums around the world, and in recent years in group exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum, Tate Modern, and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
In 2015 he was the first living British artist to have a solo exhibition in the main gallery of the Tate Modern.
