The technique used on the fabric, called "nori-yaki dyeing," is a technique developed over a long history of dyeing kimono fabric and is a dyeing method that has been fused with modern techniques.
The muddler pattern is created entirely by hand using a lot of glue. It takes time to remove the glue after dyeing, so it takes a considerable amount of time to complete one piece.
This technique, which once disappeared, is now dyed by an artist who was awarded the Traditional Crafts Technique Merit Award in 1956.
This item features classic hakama shorts with traditional dyeing techniques.
